Painting in Portsmouth

I've been painting every since I was small but my favourite medium was always oil or acrylic paint, and the subject was always as abstract and colourful as I could make it. For a change I'm going to embark on a small project while we go round the UK. I'm going to draw and paint real-life, coastal scenes using watercolours.

Why watercolours? Because they are the only paints I will be able to fit in the van!

I've started with my adopted home town of Portsmouth. The beauty of Portsmouth is not natural, but in its history and character. So I chose to paint the Spinnaker Tower (everytime I saw this in the distance I knew I was nearly home) and the HMS Warrior.

I think I definitely need to practice painting boat rigging.
