Some June photos

It may be getting close to midwinter here but the sun hasn't stopped shining, and the rain we do have seems to come in convenient bursts that are easily avoided.

A few weeks ago we went for a kayak on the Swan river, to see the city from a different perspective. We were told you often see dolphins in the water here, but alas all we saw were hundreds of jellyfish.

We have also signed up to be helpers at our local scout group! Nick used to help out at Denmead scouts back in the UK and we thought it would be a good way of getting more involved in the community. We spent one weekend recently on a district camp (lots of local scout groups) and it was good fun.

In other news, I have finished working full time, the role I was temporarily covering for was recently filled. They still want to utilise me for some casual hours over the next few weeks until the little one arrives, which suits me fine.

Nick had his 32nd birthday, he had a busy birthday week where he watched some live rugby (Lions vs Western Force), lunch in Perth with friends, and a spot of golf.

Everything is looking very green and as autumnal as it gets round here. In only a week or so it will be the midwinter solstice, and the days will start getting longer and the sun higher.

At the moment it is dark in the morning when Nick gets up for work, but its still light when he gets home which is a vast improvement from the driving to and from work in the dark we used to do in the UK winters.

As it is midwinter here soon we are going to celebrate with some typical midwinter fare; yule ham, mince pies and mulled wine (non-alcoholic for me!)

Our lovely chickens are providing us with a regular, if not daily, supply of eggs and are looking so much healthier. Their favourite hobby is finding new holes in their run to escape from (although they never go far - chickens aren't especially curious animals).

At 30 weeks I'm feeling pretty huge at the moment and can't quite believe I'm going to get even bigger. I've started attending a local yoga group and trying to keep up swimming and walking to stay active in preparation for the birth which is starting to only seem like round the corner!

Our cheeky kitten relaxing in the sun.

Love to you all, don't forget to stay in touch and let us know what you have been up to.
